Jones OK Tire rules JC Babe Ruth tournament

from staff reports

JOHNSON CITY -- In a hard-fought game between two well-coached teams, Jones OK Tire and Team USA squared off on Tuesday night for the city Babe Ruth tournament championship.
Team USA's Patrick Jones pitched a great ball game. However, it just wasn't quite enough to cool the bats of Jones OK Tire, which posted a 10-8 victory.
Coming to Patrick's relief was team player Maupin.
Josh Kyle led the way for Jones OK Tire by going 3-for-3 at the plate and scoring three times.
The "Bray Boys" picked up the tab and delivered seven RBIs. Jordan and Ernie Bray doubled for two RBIs apiece, and David Bray's time at the plate accounted for three more runs.
Dana May singled to account for two more runs, bringing the total for OK Tire to 10 runs.
Jason DuBay pitched two innings to hold Team USA scoreless until the third inning, when Jordan Hughes came in as relief and struck out ten batters to go the distance.
Wyatt Breeding of Team USA was 2-for-4. He proved to be a thorn in OK Tire's side all night long. He scored three times and accounted for two comeback rallies that brought Team USA within two runs in the seventh inning.
With two outs and the game pivoting either way, Jordan Bray made a diving catch at first base to seal the victory for Jones OK Tire.
A special thank you to all the players, parents, sponsors and the league -- from Coach Bray & Coach Julian & Coach Boyer.
