Midway Furniture Yankees subdue Orioles, Rangers

   In pee-wee action from Thursday night, the Midway Furniture Yankees won both games of a rare doubleheader.
   In the first game, the Yankees and the Summers-Taylor Orioles hooked in a down-to-the-wire thriller.
   The game was tied 7-all after 4 1/2 innings, then the Orioles pushed across two runs to carry a 9-7 lead into the sixth frame.
   From there, the Yankees plated six runs and carried a 13-9 lead into the bottom of the inning, where catcher Ethan Jones held on to a tipped third strike to close out the win for Midway Furniture.
   The Yankees were led by Cory Richardson's 4-for-4 hitting, and three outstanding defensive plays at first base.
   Josh Hubbard and Josh Harrison also had defensive gems while Jonathon Holt scored three runs for the Yankees.
   Tyler Matheson tagged an inside-the-park home run for the Orioles.
   In the second game, the Yankees sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning as they scored 10 runs en route to a win over the Rangers.
   Dustin Phillips, Cameron Blair, William Shaw, Josh Harrison, Jonathon Holt, Cory Richardson, Ethan Jones and Josh Hubbard led the Midway hitting, with Chris Fenner and Jacob McCracken making key plays for the Yankees in the field.
   Honeycutt, Smith, Bowers and Helms led the Rangers attack.
