Tri-Cities Shooting Stars best Wilcats in AAU play

   The Tri-Cities Shooting Stars won their first game in pool play in the State AAU 13&U girls basketball tournament in Memphis.
   They played Team Tennessee Wildcats -- the No. 1 seed from North Middle Tennessee-Nashville area).
   Leading the way for the Shooting Stars was Holly Nickles with 14 points.
   Samantha Williams scored nine points, had nine rebounds and dished out six assists. Brittani Fisher scored seven points, Brianne Gouge five, and Michaela Pietrowski scored five points and had 12 rebounds.
   During the first half, the Shooting Stars kept the Wildcats caged with their strong defensive effort, holding them to nine points.
   After intermission, the Wildcats came out with their claws freshly sharpened and clawed their way back into the game. With two minutes left in the game, the score was tied.
   But the Shooting Stars pulled away to a 40-33 victory. The team had strong support from other players off the bench.
