Bristol Dragway set to host Mopar Mania

   BRISTOL -- Two of NHRA's top Pro Stockers, Greeneville's Allen Johnson and Darrell Alderman, will compete in match races when the Hensley Performance 4th Annual Mopar Mania returns to Bristol Dragway this Friday through Sunday.
   Alderman and Johnson, who are ninth and 10th, respectively, in the Pro Stock points chase, will compete against each other in Mopar-sponsored cars at noon and again at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and will also race again at noon on Sunday.
   Other match racers who will show off their skills include Hemi Super Stock competitors Matt Hensley and Bob Reed.
   Mopar Mania will feature three days of drag racing, along with a swap meet, car show and Manufacturer's Midway. Drake Coatings Slant 6 Club racing is also on the schedule.
   Another highlight of the weekend will be a special guest appearance by Dukes of Hazzard's Ben "Crazy Cooter" Jones. Jones will appear with the famous "General Lee" and sign autographs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
   Car show judging will take place on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until noon.
   Entry fees are as follows: Car Show $25 (additional $10 admission), Quick 16 $100 (weekend pass), Electronic (bracket race) $80 (weekend pass), Non-Electronic (bracket race), Slant 6 $40 (weekend pass), and Max Wedge $55 (weekend pass).
   The Quick 16 winner takes home $3,000 and the Super Pro winner earns $2,000. The Pro winner pockets $1,000, as does the Max Wedge winner, and the Slant 6 winner bags $300.
   A three-day spectator pass is $35, and a two-day pass is $25. Children under 13 will be admitted free with a paying adult.
   A three-day crew pass is $35, and a two-day crew pass is $25.
   One-day admission (any day) is $15.
   Gates open Friday at 9 a.m., and at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
