General Machine whips two more opponents
from staff reports
Unstained. That's a good word to describe the
regular-season record of Carter County General Machine.
Defeating Mountain City #2 17-0 and Daniel Boone
#4 23-3 this past week, General Machine upped its impressive
record to 12-0.
The mighty Machine ambushed Mountain City at
Johnson County High School, scoring eight runs in the first
inning en route to a 17-hit output.
Tee Blevins did the job with his bat and his
pitching arm. Blevins led the winners, going 3-for-4 at the
plate and striking out nine batters (no walks) in four innings
of work on the mound.
Cory Pearson and Adam Buckles demonstrated their
solid offensive skills, batting 3-for-4 and 3-for-5, respectively,
while D.J. Oliver enjoyed a nice day with the stick, evidenced
by his 2-for-2 showing.
Mountain City mustered a pair of base hits, with
Ernie Poteet and Zack Reese each going 1-for-2.
The Daniel Boone contest featured even more Carter
County offense as General Machine banged out 24 hits, led
by Cody Montgomery's eyepopping 5-for-6 day.
Buckles (3-for-3), Caleb Trivett (3-for-4 with
a home run) and Michael Carpenter (3-for-5) added plenty more
fireworks for General Machine, which got a good pitching performance
from Pearson.
Chris Bardo and Whit Jacobs paced the Boone effort
with 1-for-2 outings.
