Simerly throws perfect game  as Sigma routs Cash Express

from staff reports

There was no stopping 6-Sigma pitcher Daniel Simerly on Saturday at T.J. Burleson Field.
Tossing a perfect game and striking out 10 batters, Simerly led Sigma to a 25-0 rout of Cash Express in Elizabethton National Little League action.
The closest Cash Express came to getting anybody on base was a pop fly and a grounder that ended in outs.
Eric Norman's 2-for-2 showed the way for the Sigma bats, while Richard Lovelace went 1-for-1. Chipping in at 1-for-2 apiece were Matt Cannon, Simerly, Logan Bowling and Korey Hardin.
   Carter County Bank 6
   Elizabethton Twins 2
A low-scoring battle saw Carter County Bank erase a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth, then seal the victory by scoring four times in the fifth.
Kenny Yarberry was the winning pitcher as the Twins mustered just two hits on the day. Justin Fuqua topped the Banker bats with a 1-for-1 effort, followed by Chase Depew at 1-for-3.
Ben McKinney and Lance Reed both batted 1-for-2 to lead the Twins.
   Carter County Motors 10
   Grindstaff Motors 7
Carter County Motors used a very strong start -- eight runs in the first two innings -- to conquer a scrappy Grindstaff Motors outfit.
Nick Berkley, who went 2-for-3, and Bobby Campbell, 1-for-1, backed the solid pitching of Nolan Childers for Carter County Motors. Adding 1-for-2 showings were Adrian Hopson and Brandon Birchfield.
Swinging the big bats for Grindstaff were Logan Bowling and Cory Blevins, going 2-for-2 and 2-for-3, respectively.
C.J. Bowling, Brent Powell and Ethan Fleenor each went 1-for-2.
   BET Welding 23
   Burgie Drugs 6
The Welders were red hot at the plate, banging out 15 hits in a four-inning victory over Burgie.
Josh Sorah and Adam Buck both batted 3-for-4 to pace the BET bats, with Jacob Miller contributing a 2-for-3 game. Joe Guinn got the job done on the mound, tossing a two-hitter.
Jordan Meredith, 1-for-2, and Zack Miller, 1-for-3, were tops for Burgie.
   Friday's Games
   BET Welding 15
   Carter County Motors 5
Michael Hutchins proved to be a thorn in Carter County Motors' side, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, and a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fourth, as BET asserted itself with solid play.
Josh Sorah notched the win on the mound and went 2-for-4 in a starring role for BET, while Jake Peters chipped in at 1-for-1.
Stacey Sheffield, Cody "The Rock" Hyder, Michael Guinn and Chris Bucket Pierce each batted 1-for-2 to pace Motors.
   Valley Forge Auction 14
   Grindstaff Motors 0
It was a dominating performance for VFA, which used Blake Hopson's good pitching and 12 team hits to blank Grindstaff.
Christopher Dunbar and Bradley McVey served as offensive catalysts for Auction, batting 3-for-4 apiece. Brandon Woods made a solid 2-for-4 contribution.
Ethan Fleenor, 1-for-1, and Logan Bowling, 1-for-2, accounted for the only Grindstaff hits.
