Strong effort by E-Express

from staff reports

Expert Express stood and delivered this past weekend at Jim Ensor Field.
Taking on T&C Lawn Care in an American Little League showdown for first place, Expert proved up the challenge by recording wins of 11-8 and 19-4.
The first game, a continuation of a contest that started on Thursday night, finished up as a 10-inning marathon.
Neither team could muster a run in the seventh, eighth or ninth innings, but Expert pushed across three runs in the top of the tenth as Nick Papantoniou crushed his 10th home run of the year.
Papantoniou, Aaron Bradford and Brit Yelton each batted 3-for-4 to lead the way offensively for the Express, while Blake Russell pitched three stellar innings to nab the victory.
The second matchup was far less dramatic than the first as Expert tallied six runs in the third to break a 4-4 tie, then ended the game with a nine-run fourth.
Hunter Taylor banged his fifth homer of the season in a 3-for-3 performance for Express, which also got 3-for-3 showings from Bradford and Papantoniou during an 18-hit output.
Yelton and Franky Birchfield held T&C's big bats in check, with Yelton getting the decision.
