D-B volleyball standout commits to Lady Buffs

from staff reports

Dobyns-Bennett standout Katie Mullins has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball next season for Milligan College.
She will follow new coach Kim Hyatt this fall to Milligan to continue her playing career as a defensive specialist.
Mullins received All-Big Seven Conference honors, and was voted to the honorable mention All-Northeast Tennessee Volleyball team as a senior. She also made the Honorable mention All-Conference in 2000.
Mullins had a 95 percent serving average, which was one of the highest on the team. She returned serve at a 92 percent clip from back row.
"Katie is an outstanding athlete and being a four-year starter at Dobyns-Bennett, she brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the team," Hyatt said. "Katie is a very hard worker and strong team player. She is very enthusiastic about the sport and her teammates. She is someone you want to go to battle with."
