Buffs sign Rutledge pitcher from staff reportsMilligan head baseball coach Danny Clark has announced that Matt Day from Rutledge High School (Tenn.) will play for the Buffaloes next season. Day, a right-handed pitcher and shortstop, was named Defensive Player of the Year and co-MVP at Rutledge. He also was named to the all-conference and all-region teams. Boasting a 6-1 pitching record as a senior and throwing in the 84-85 mph range, Clark expects that Day will compete for a starting role as pitcher. "Matt will be an impact player for Milligan," Clark said. "I look for him to come in and compete for a starting role. He throws his curveball for a strike. Matt will be an asset as a student and player, and I look forward to having him in my program." | |||||||
