Greg's edges CCM; TCN downs Sigma
from staff reports
Carter County Motors and Greg's Pizza played
a real sizzler on Tuesday night at T.J. Burleson Field, with
Greg's pulling out a 4-3 Elizabethton National Little League
win.
Carter County Motors took a 3-2 lead on a Casey
Sheffield two-run homer -- his second roundtripper of the
season -- in top of the fourth, but the pizza boys retaliated
with two runs on their own in the bottom of the frame on a
Bobby Campbell single.
Jacob Davis turned in a brilliant performance
for Greg's, striking out 13 batters while tossing a two-hitter
for the win, and slamming his fifth home run of the season
-- a two-run shot.
Josh Peterson added two doubles in three at-bats
in a solid outing for the winners, who got a 1-for-2 from
Campbell and a 1-for-3 from Michael Hutchins.
Jake Hodge was dealt the pitching loss for CCM,
but he made a good showing, striking out 11 batters. He and
Sheffield batted 1-for-3.
Both teams exhibited good defense.
Tri-Cities Nissan 13
Six Sigma 1
With Drew Clark pitching a sparkling one-hitter,
Tri-Cities Nissan coasted to a victory over Six Sigma.
Sigma could seldom make contact against Clark,
who only allowed a base hit to Logan Loving,
Clark and Dylan Carr, who each went 1-for-1,
and Cody Hill, 2-for-3, showed the way for TCN at the plate.
Zack Miller and Caleb Sheets followed at 1-for-2 apiece, with
Ethan Fleenor going 1-for-3.
