Lady Buffaloes land Canadian midfielder
from staff reports
Stephanie Junkin, a high school senior from Brampton,
Ontario, has signed a national letter of intent to attend
Milligan College and play for the Lady Buffs soccer program
next season.
Junkin played in the Ontario Youth Soccer League,
representing Burlington, Richmond Hill and, most recently,
Oakville, one of the largest and most respected soccer clubs
in Canada.
In 2000 she received the Player Achievement Award
from the Richmond Hill Soccer Club. As a midfielder for Notre
Dame High School, Junkin served as team captain. She also
was a member of the Ontario Provincial Team for three years.
Milligan head coach Dave Dixon is looking forward
to working with Junkin.
"Stephanie is an outstanding midfielder," he
said. "She likes to attack, and I think she's going to combine
well with the players we already have.
"Her distribution and passing skills are excellent
and I think she has the ability to make the players around
her better. We are going to be a more dangerous attacking
team with Stephanie on the field."
