KFC fends off Sigma at end

   Six Sigma made its move late, but the damage had already been done by Kentucky Fried Chicken.
   Scoring in four out of its five offensive innings, including three runs in the fifth, KFC defeated Sigma 8-6 in an Elizabethton National Little League game on Saturday at T.J. Burleson Field.
   Trailing 8-2, Sigma tallied four runs in the top of the sixth to make it close, but simply ran out of hits.
   Jacob Alexander, Zack Treadway and winning pitcher Sumner Garland each went 1-for-2 to pace KFC, with Caleb Durant and James Benge adding 1-for-3 efforts.
   Sigma was topped by Jacob Howell and Ethan McKinney at 2-for-3 apiece. Travis Lowe, Cory Richardson and Logan Loving each batted 1-for-3.

   Seth Fleenor starred on the mound for Carter County Motors, twirling a one-hitter in a one-sided affair.
   Cody "The Rock" Hyder's 2-for-2 showed the way for the winners at the plate. Jake Hodge and Tyler Burleson chipped in at 2-for-3 and 1-for-1, respectively.
   Jordan Austin accounted for the VFA hit.

   Strikeouts were aplenty in a pitchers' duel between Chase Depew, who fanned 11 batters for the victory, and Drew Chambers, who totaled 14 Ks in defeat.
   Depew fired a one-hitter while Chambers allowed a mere four hits.
   The Bankers got the scoring deposit they needed for the win in the first inning, taking a 3-0 lead.
   Mathew Potter went 2-for-2 to pace the Carter County sticks, and Depew and Landon South both batted 1-for-2.
   Collecting the lone Burgie hit was Matt Febuary, who was 1-for-2.

   Stacey Sheffield held the KFC bats in check, and Carter County Motors cut loose for 11 hits in a convincing win.
   Tyler Burleson, Nick Kyte and Casey Sheffield each went 2-for-2 for CCM, which received a 2-for-3 performance from Sheffield.
   Nick Campbell's 1-for-1 topped KFC. Caleb Durant followed at 1-for-2.
