Swift emerges ASA champs

   The Swift softball team came roaring back from the losers' bracket to win the ASA Spring Invitational Tournament held May 1 in Johnson City.
   After defeating Cannon's of Honaker, Va., and Day's Inn of Kingsport, Swift lost 14-10 to the Warriors of Morristown. The team then proceeded to sweep the losers' bracket with wins over The Outlaws, Vance Electric and the Warriors.
   From there Swift "double-dipped" Shirley's of Elizabethton, winning back-to-back games and taking the title.
   Leading the hitting for the champs were Rodney Hutchins, Joey Trent, Johnny Garland and Joe Hutchins, who won the home-run title, and pitcher Scotty Bunton, who was named Most Valuable Player.
