Lady Buffs cut down two foes in tournament

   BRISTOL -- The Lady Buffs softball team won two big games to advance to the final competition of the AAC Tournament being held at White Top Creek Athletic Facilities.
   In the first game, Milligan took on the Union College Bulldogs, winning 3-0. Shelby Banion went 1-for-2 with one RBI, followed by Megan Aldridge, who went 1-for-1 with one RBI.
   Pitcher Traci Harrison (14-4) won the contest, allowing only five hits but no runs.
   In game two, the Lady Buffs defeated the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs 3-0.
   Milligan finished with three runs and no errors. Aldridge went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, followed by Sarah Smith and Allyson Horner, who both went 1-for-3.
   Leah Fritts also went 1-for-3 and ended with one RBI. Pitcher Brandy Waddle helped win the game, causing eight strikeouts. Waddle improves her overall record to 18-7.
   Coach Wes Holly was pleased with his team's success, commenting: "I'm really proud of the girls and excited that we were able to win the first two games. We played a good ballgame and are ready to go for another matchup tomorrow."
   Milligan (39-14, 24-6) will play again at 6 p.m. today against the winner of the UVA Wise/Virginia Intermont matchup.
