from staff reports

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Dr. Rob Cadwallader of Johnson City was among a select group of doctors of chiropractic invited to participate in the Twelfth Annual Symposium on Natural Fitness held March 5-6, 2004, in Columbus, Ohio.
This unique assembly of over 400 enthusiastic doctors of chiropractic, students and friends from around the world, sponsored by the Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science of the International Chiropractors Association, celebrated its 12th consecutive year of programs in conjunction with The Arnold Schwarzenegger Bodybuilding Classic and Fitness Expo.
This event brings together top authorities in sports chiropractic with celebrities from the fitness world for a weekend of education, inspiration and communication.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic is one of the world's most prestigious annual bodybuilding events, and now includes over 11,000 athletes participating in the strength, fitness and martial arts competitions, several thousand more than the upcoming Summer Olympic Games.
The 2004 program featured a powerful lineup of chiropractic speakers, including a keynote presentation by Dr. Tom Deters, former editor of Muscle and Fitness Magazine, and one of the profession's most gifted educators.
Dr. Mitch Mally teamed up with San Francisco 49ers football great Roger Craig for an interactive presentation on performance enhancement through chiropractic, and Dr. Pete Gratale, ICA's Symposium host, presented a dynamic program on core strength training programs with diverse patient populations.
Noted resistance training authority Dr. Ken Kinakin shared clinical strategies for injury prevention and management with weight training, and Dr. Gerry Mettia presented on biomechanically directed exercise with chiropractic care, joined by Dr. Jeff Spencer, recognized for his work with Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.
The ICA Symposium also featured guest appearances by legendary senior fitness expert Bob Delmonteque, author of the best selling book Lifelong Fitness, and chiropractic advocate and wellness expert Bill Frank.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, global superstar and an enthusiastic chiropractic patient for many years, and now Governor of California, addressed the ICA Symposium and highlighted the importance of chiropractic care for himself and his family.
"Chiropractic is about natural, preventive health care," he told the group. "What you are doing, and I have experienced this for the last 20 years myself on my own body, means that whenever I have a problem -- or even if I don't have a problem -- and I go to a chiropractor, my problems are gone for a long time."
Dr. Cadwallader is a 1996 graduate of Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Ga., where he has also worked as an X-Ray intern. He has been in practice for eight years, and his office is located at 1904 Lark Street in Johnson City.
