Mapes captures top honors at Industrial Bass Tourney

   The 19th Annual Carter County Industrial Bass Tournament was held in April at Fish Springs Marina, and Mapes took home the team championship with a catch of 45.32 pounds.
   Simmerly, C. Harris, Hughes, Kaylor, Hyder and E. Harris represented the winning team.
   The City of Elizabethton grabbed second-place honors, recording a 37.66-pound catch, while Star Building Systems came in third at 31.00 pounds.
   Snap-On Tools was fourth, pressing the scales at 23.06 pounds.
   Best two-man boat honors went to Jeff Holt and Charlie Phipps of the Carter County School System. They checked in with a 19.04-pound catch.
   Ronnie Hill and Travis Hill garnered the sportsmanship award.
   Top individual performances included a seven-catch, 13.2-pound effort from Ed Harris of Mapes, as well as a five-catch, 13.2 showing from Todd Montgomery, City of Elizabethton.
   Mapes' J.L. Hoss also had a good tournament, totaling 11.5 pounds on six fish.
   Tony Hughes and Lee Kaylor of Mapes gave a solid two-man performance, reeling in eight fish for a total of 17.18 pounds.
   In addition to catching a pair of bass, Snap-On's Harold Street brought in a 13-pound catfish.
