Cornett tennis MVP in Watauga Conference

from staff reports

The honors just keep rolling in for Adam Cornett.
The Johnson County tennis standout was recently named the Watauga Conference MVP by the league's coaches.
The girls MVP is not a surprise, as Unicoi County's Amber Campbell took the honor after going undefeated in singles play.
Cornett lost just one match for the Longhorns in regular season action, and recently won the District 1-AA boys singles Tournament.
Cornett and Campbell will both be the top seeds in Monday's Region I-AA Tournament at Elizabethton High School.
Joining Cornett on the Boys squad are Elizabethton's Curtis Brumit and David Reece, Volunteer's Andy Clark and Dustin Pugh, Unicoi County's Drew Parsons and Florian Schuchert, Sullivan North's Ben Marshall and Kevin Willis, Johnson County's Justin Genaille, and Sullivan Central's Brad Huber and Brandon Bledsoe.
As for the girls, Campbell is joined by Elizabethton's Amanda Pike and Liz Dove, Johnson County's Amanda Colvin and Mandy Howard, Sullivan Central's Lauren Cassell and Ashley Bailey, Volunteer's Morgan Smith and Jennifer Jones, Sullivan North's Kristen Hughes and Cassie Thomas, and Unicoi County's Tracy Cartier.
Sullivan North's Karla Keesecker won boys Coach-of-the-Year, while Volunteer's Jayne Smith took that same honor for the girls.
