Buffs' Shealy, Whittemore voted to All-Region squad

   Scott Shealy and Ben Whittemore were voted to the All-Region team. The region is made up of Appalachian Athletic Conference and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
   Shealy, a senior from Erwin, has made the team for the past three seasons and is a four-time all-conference player at two different positions.
   Shealy led Milligan will a .405 (79-195) batting average. He has scored 60 runs this season, breaking his school record last season of 54.
   The previous record was only 49 held by Tony Mitchell in 1978. Shealy led the team with nine home runs and second in driving in 43 runs from his leadoff position.
   His on-base average of .469 and slugger percentage of .636 also leads Milligan.
   Shealy was 21 of 22 stealing bases this season. His career total of 61 stolen bases is a Milligan record. He has only been caught five times in his career.
   Going into the regional tournament this week, Shealy holds the all-time best batting average for a career in Milligan College history.
   In his four seasons, he is a combine 273-719 a .379 average. Bruce Kregloe (1969-72) holds the old mark of .378.
   His 273 hits are a Milligan record. He tied Keith Church's record of 194 hits in his last at-bats of his junior season.
   Whittemore, a senior outfielder from Elizabethton, also made the team as an outfielder. He hit in the clean-up position all season and only missed one game for the Buffs.
   Whittemore hit .348 (65-187) with three home runs and 58 RBIs. He shattered the old record of 47 RBIs in a season, and had 27 extra-base hits to lead the club.
   His 22 doubles are only two doubles away from the Milligan record.
   Whittemore scored 36 runs and stole 5 bases without being caught this season.
   Shealy and Whittemore are responsible of 54% (195 of 361) of all the runs Milligan scored this season.
