McKinney hits Big John's past Blossman Gas

   With Madison McKinney trying her best to rip the cover off of the softball, Big John's Closeouts rolled past Blossman Gas 19-4 in Little League softball activity on Thursday night.
   McKinney had a top-notch game at the plate for Big John's, going 4-for-4 with a triple and a pair of runs.
   Tara Kauffeld went 1-for-1 with a two runs and a double, while Kristen Powell, Brittany Jenkins and Kendra Good each batted 1-for-2 and scored two runs.
   This was a 6-4 game at the end of the first inning, but Big John's hunkered down defensively and on the mound to shut out Blossman the rest of the way.
   Cara Bowling and Jerissa Rice, both going 1-for-1, led the way for Blossman. Laura Moore was 1-for-2.

   Mariah Pietrowski and Rebecah Morrow turned in three-hit, two-run performances, which were enough to squeeze Sigma past Blossman.
   Brittany Stines, Rachel Reynolds, Heather Hughes, Courtney Bowers and Halee Verran had two hits apiece for Sigma, with Whitney Murray and Jessica Carlisle adding one hit each.
   Reynolds tallied the winning run in the sixth inning.
   Tops for Blossman was Amanda Shulte with three hits and two hits. Cara Bowling, Laura Moore and Brittany Michael dented two hits apiece, and Katie Robinson, Danielle Matherly, Jerissa Rice and Kendra Campbell each chipped in one hit.

   Brittany Thomas went 3-for-4 and scored a trio of runs to propel Big John's to victory.
   Big John's Madison McKinney and Tara Kauffeld both accounted for two hits -- Kauffeld smacked a double-- and three runs, with Brittany Jenkins collecting a pair of hits to go with a pair of runs.
   Megan Carty had two hits of her own, Kristen Powell doubled, and Chelsie Melber poked a single.
   Peebles received two hits from Brittany Crabtree, and a base hit each from Chelsea Bowling, McKenzie Eggers, Brittany Eggers (2 runs), Rikki Pritchard, Kelly Lyons and Lydia Carr.

   Big John's drew a total of 14 walks, and Kristen Powell, Brittany Thomas, and Chelsie Wagner each scored a pair of runs as Big John's got the job done.
   Brittany Jenkins had a base hit for the winners.
   Courtney Bowers socked a base hit for 6-Sigma.
   Game 2
   Blossman Gas 11
   EPD 7
   Katie Robinson doubled and scored a pair of runs as Blossman disposed of the Elizabethton Police Department team.
   Danielle Martinez and Laura Moore (2 runs) added a base hit apiece for Blossman, which scored five runs in each of the first two frames.
   Erin Anderson was tops for EPD, going 2-for-2 with a run and a walk. Ashley White contributed a double and a run.

   A major runfest saw Big John's, behind two hits apiece from Madison McKinney and Chelsie Wagner (3 runs), outlast Peebles.
   Brittany Thomas totaled four walks and four runs while Kristen Powell had four walks and three runs to help out the winning outfit.
   Rikki Pritchard banged out a hit for Peebles.
   Big John's won the game on the strength of a 10-run fifth.

   Madison McKinney turned in a three-hit performance for Big John's, which scored eight runs in the first and six more in the third to fend off Blossman.
   Brittany Jenkins added a couple of hits for Big John's, which got a hit each from Megan Carty, Ashley Wagner and Tara Kauffeld.
   Katie Robinson and Danielle Matherly both had a hit for Blossman. Cara Bowling and Matherly scored two runs apiece.
