Presnell resigns as A.D. at EHS
from staff reports
Effective on June 30, 2002, the Elizabethton
High School Cyclones will have a new athletic director as
current A.D. Jim Presnell will step down and hand the reins
over to a successor, who has yet to be named.
A prepared statement from EHS Principal Edwin
Alexander stated, 'Mr. Jim Presnell has submitted a resignation
as the EHS athletic director. He will remain as an instructor
at our school.
"For the past seven years Mr. Presnell's efforts
to set up and maintain sound fiscal leadership and strong
personal direction for our athletic department (and all our
coaches) has been noted and appreciated.
"We certainly anticipate a smooth transition
from our present A.D. to the new one, so that our student-athletes
and the entire athletic program will not be adversely affected
by this change. A search for a replacement is currently being
conducted."
Presnell, in addition to being the school's athletic
director for the past seven years, also coached girls basketball,
track and was an assistant on the football team. Presnell
owns the school record in the discus toss and was a standout
track performer at 'Betsy.
Presnell stepped down from his post as girls
basketball head coach in 1984 after a three-year stint.
