KFC, Citizens prevail in American League
action
from staff reports
Michah Cates and Sam Adams dented two hits apiece
to back the effective pitching of Chris Triplett as Kentucky
Fried Chicken rolled to a 10-2 victory over A-1 Auto in Monday's
American Little League play.
Triplett allowed a first-inning run to A-1 leadoff
man Justin Nave, who started the game with a single, but hunkered
down from that point on.
While Cates had a double in his output, Jacques
Romain tripled and tallied a pair of runs for KFC, which scored
in every inning except the sixth.
Aaron Taylor put together a nice effort for A-1,
collecting a pair of doubles. Nave had two hits, including
a two-bagger, and Jordan Taylor banged out a double of his
own.
Citizens Bank 3
Cline-Holder 1
With Jeremy Hall hurling a two-hitter and striking
out 15 batters, the Bankers were able to withstand a two-hitter
by Cline-Holder pitcher Cody Marley.
A Brandon Cole double and a Cline-Holder error
enabled Citizens to grab a 2-0 first-inning lead, which Hall
made stand up with a strong performance.
The Bankers only had two hits, with Cole getting
both, as Marley did an excellent good job on the mound, recording
14 strikeouts.
Jeremy Sommers tripled and scored for Cline-Holder.
Marley chipped in a single.
