Twins, Sigma get job done

The E-Twins and 6-Sigma were the big winners
in Friday night action at T.J. Burleson Field, with the Twins
posting a 4-2 win over Carter County Bank, and Sigma flexing
its muscles in a 9-4 win over Carter County Motors.
Lance Reed was one-for-two, while Ben McKinney,
Zack Montgomery and Craig Sheets each had a hit in three at-bats
for the victorious Twins.
Montgomery garnered the win, while Kenny Yarberry
was saddled with the loss. Justin Fuqua was a perfect one-for-one
for the Bankers, and Yarberry gave a one-for-three showing.
The game featured a battle between the top two
hurlers in the ENLL, and it proved to live up to its billing.
Montgomery finished with eight strikeouts in
five innings pitched while Yarberry bettered that with nine
Ks in five frames of duty.
Derrick Mann and Tyler Blevins each lashed hits
for the Bankers.

Wendell Loving laced three hits in as many at-bats
to back the strong pitching of Matt Cannon as the Sigma's
broke a 2-2 ballgame wide open in the top of the third.
In the third frame Sigma plated five runs to
take a 7-2 lead and give Cannon some breathing room.
William Wagner and Daniel Simerly each finished
the day one-for-two for the Sigma's, while Bucky Pierce had
himself a huge day at the plate with a three-for-three outing
for the Carter County Motors squad.
Nick Berkley was two-for-three and losing pitcher
Brandon Birchfield was one-for-two at the plate as well.
