Morehead St. repels ETSU

from staff reports

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The East Tennessee State Buccaneers played just a notch below that of Morehead State University on Tuesday as the Eagles captured a non-conference doubleheader, 7-4 and 14-12.
A four-inning first, highlighted by Cary Page's three-run homer, served as the game one catalyst for Morehead State (28-23).
Page, who ranks second in the nation in homers, hit another in the second game to give him 26 for the season.
Matt Traylor led the Buccaneer bats in the first contest, going 3-for-4 while bashing his fifth homer of the season. Brandon Cross added a 2-for-3 showing.
Game 2 saw ETSU score in six of seven innings, including five in the first, but a six-run Eagle fourth erased an 8-7 Buc lead.
Michael Giroud turned in a strong nightcap for ETSU, going 4-for-5 with a double. Jeremy Terry added a nice 3-for-4 effort, and Cross went 2-for-4 and scored three times.
Keith Keithley hit a grand slam for the Bucs (20-32), who close out the regular season by hosting Furman on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
