Lady Cyclones roar to regional championship

PIGEON FORGE -- Playing for a regional championship,
the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones put forth a resounding performance.
Sweeping Pigeon Forge 4-0 on Thursday in team
competition, the 'Betsy girls took a big step forward by advancing
to a sectional match.
Coach Danny O'Quinn's Cyclone squad was led by
the dominant play of Amanda Pike and Liz Dove, who posted
6-0, 6-0 victories.
Stephanie Schumaier dropped the first set of
her match, but bounced back for a 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 triumph. Hayley
Shields won a hard-fought battle, 7-6, 6-4.
Elizabethton also had a winner in Allison Parlier,
who prevailed by a 6-1, 6-2 score.
The Cyclones will be at Gatlinburg-Pittman this
Monday for regional tournament action in doubles play. Weston
Peters and David Reece will compete for the EHS boys, while
Pike and Dove team up for the girls.
