Bucs split with Bulldogs

   East Tennessee State scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed to win the second game of a doubleheader with UNC-Asheville 4-2 on Wednesday.
   Chad Borufff drove in one with a RBI-single and Scott Rose followed with a two-run single for a 3-0 lead. UNCA rallied in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to 3-2 on a RBI-double from Bill Carley and after Israel Victor drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
   ETSU starter Mike Bauer (1-5) hung tough for five innings before Jackson Simerly came in to record his first save of the season. Bauer scattered nine hits, walking two and striking out two.
   Jason Walker pitched a complete game for Asheville in game one, leading the Bulldogs to a 4-1 win. It was his first start of the season for Walker, who improved to 3-3 on the year.
   He helped the cause with his sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs in the contest. Asheville now stands at (20-24) with conference for Elon coming in on Saturday.
   The Bucs (19-28) will host Western Carolina on Friday night at Cardinal Park.
