The 18th Annual Industrial Bass Tournament was held last Saturday at Watauga Lake at Fish Springs Dock.
Over 60 boats entered the day-long tourney as a cold front moved in early Saturday morning, causing the fishing to be slow.
As expected Mapes was the number one team in team standings. This was the third year in a row for the fishermen at Mapes to win the tournament. The City of Elizabethton was second. The number two team of Mapes placed third and Snap-On Tools came in fourth.
A great number of door prizes were given out following the tournament.
Co-Directors Mike Peters and Joe Greenwell recognized the following merchants to help make the tournament a big success: Fish Springs Marina, Dino's, Cater County Motors, Cole's Bait and Tackle, Lil Roy's Bait Shop, Snap-On Tools, and Mapes.
Fishermen winning individual honors were: Adam Taylor, largest walleye, 5.5 lbs.; Todd Montgomery, 4.6 smallmouth; Jesse Taylor and Art Smithdeal, two smallmouth; Leo Meredith, Skunk Award; Sonny Wilson, two walleye over four pounds; and Darrell Woods. 3.8 largemouth.
