Lady 'Clones too much for Johnson Co.

   The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones defeated Johnson County on the Longhorn field Tuesday with a 12-4 Watauga Conference softball victory.
   Elizabethton had 15 hits and Johnson County had nine. Mary Edgars took the win while Katie Nelson had the loss for the Lady Longhorns.
   After recovering from a torn ACL two months ago, Johnson County pitcher Laura Peters returned to the mound for the first three innings, where she proceeded to hold Elizabethton to one run in the third inning. The Lady Longhorns scored three runs in the first inning for a 3-1 lead after three frames.
   The Lady Cyclones took a giant leap in the fourth inning, scoring five runs and adding four more in the fifth inning. Abbie Jenkins had three hits for Elizabethton and Edgar had two, one of which was a triple.
   Catcher Katie Hubbard, Kristie Keys, Whitney Lyons and Tia Nave each had two hits for Elizabethton.
   Leading hitters for Johnson County were catcher Cayla Lewis, Charley Hodge and Crystal Watson, each batting 2-for-4. The Lady Longhorns scored their fourth run in the sixth inning, as Elizabethton put two in the board for the win.
   Neither team scored in the final inning.
