Hampton Bench Press and Deadlift Competition Saturday

   The 24th Annual Hampton High Bench Press and Deadlift Competition will be held this Saturday at Hampton High's VanHuss-White Gym.
   The event includes a high school division (all high school students), an open division (non-high school students 19 years old and over), a senior division (45 years-old and over) and a girls division (high school only).
   No one under 14 will be permitted to enter the contest.
   Weight classes are set at 114, 123, 132, 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275 and Superheavy.
   Meet Procedures
   1. All lifting contestants be present for weigh-in at 7:30 a.m. (will conclude at 9:40). Only those lifters who have had an extreme emergency will be allowed to weigh in after the 9:40 time limit.
   All weigh-ins will officially conclude by 9:50 (no exceptions). Lifting will promptly begin at 10 a.m.
   2. All lifters are to wear gym shorts, T-shirt or a one-piece lifting suit. Absolutely no blue jeans, blue jean shorts, caps or sweats will be allowed (this is a sport, not a spectacle).
   3. Each lifter is to have his/her own belt, wraps and spotter -- chalk will be provided.
   4. All wraps will be checked. No wraps from shoulders to wrist.
   Individual and Team Awards
   Trophies will be awarded to first and second-place winners in each weight class. Third-place winners will receive medals, and fourth-place winners will receive ribbons.
   Two "best lifter" awards will be given -- one for the light division (114-165) and one for the heavy division (181-Superheavy).
   In addition, the Bob Peoples Memorial Deadlift Award will be given to the lifter who has the best deadlift for his body weight in the high school division. The Swartz Formula will judge the open division and masters.
   The open division will be divided into two categories, light and heavy, and a team trophy will be given in the high school boys and girls divisions.
   Entry Fee
   High school division: $10
   Open division: $20 bench press, $20 deadlift
   Senior division: Same as open division
