EHS breezes past Johnson County

   The Elizabethton tennis teams defeated Johnson County Monday as the boys won 8-1, and the Lady Cyclones shut out the Lady Longhorns 9-0.
   Tim Franklin and Laurean Hughes had perfect 8-0 scores against their Longhorn opponents in the singles matches, as the Amanda Pike and Rikki Baughman duo and Ashley Street and Kristina Elliott also took perfect wins in doubles.
   In Cyclone singles victories, Curtis Brumit and Jared Tetrick defeated James Cox and Dakotah Campbell, in respective matches, each with 8-2 scores.
   In a doubles match against Brumit and Seth Wallingford, Longhorns Cox and Justin Magdzuik forced the Cyclones into a second set. Brumit and Wallingford took the win with scores of 9-8 and 9-7.
   Johnson County's Jared Angel and Jeremy Gerace made Sean Snyder and Franklin work for their 9-7 doubles win. Justin Genaille took Johnson County's sole victory with an 8-6 win over Jordan Peters.
   In girls' singles matches, Katie Sluder and Lindsay Gilbert both posted a 4-8 effort against Allison Parlier and Street. Pike knocked Mandy Howard aside in a singles match, 8-1, as Elliot defeated Brittany Brewer 8-2.
   Elizabethton will compete at Sullivan Central today.
