Two straight shutouts for Buffs at AL

   PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- The Milligan College Buffaloes swept Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College in an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon by the scores of 11-0 and 15-0 to improve to 28-16 overall and 16-5 in the AAC season.
   In the first game, Milligan jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning as sophomore right fielder David Rusaw and junior third baseman Dustin Price scored on a double by freshman Kory Kinnear and Kinnear scored on a single from junior left fielder Jacob McAllister.
   A six-run sixth inning pushed the game out of reach for the Eagles of Alice Lloyd. A three-run home run from Price was the first runs on the inning. Three more RBI base hits came from McAllister, junior catcher Nathan Chandler and sophomore center fielder Will Little.
   Two more insurance runs were added in the seventh inning with back to back RBI singles from McAllister and Chandler.
   The winning pitcher for Milligan was senior Chad Davis as he pitched a complete game shut out only allowing three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
   At the plate for Milligan, Rusaw went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and Price, Kinnear and McAllister each went 2-for-3. Price hit one home run and scored three runs with three RBIs. Kinnear had two doubles while McAllister two RBIs.
   In the second game, a 13-run second inning was all Milligan needed for the victory. The Buffs sent 17 batters to the plate. Eight of the nine starters scored a run in the inning, five of the starters scored two runs, and eight of the starters had at least one RBI.
   In the inning, senior Brian Miller hit a two-run home run and an RBI double along with scoring two runs, senior Brad Hitch scored two runs and had one RBI with his triple, and freshman Ben Huff plated three Buffaloes with his bases-loaded double.
   The Buffs added one more run in the top half of the third inning as Cody Whitlock, pinch running for Thomas Lister, scored on a single from Miller. Milligan put one more run on the scoreboard in the fourth inning as Whitlock scored again from a single delivered by Garrett Reed.
   For Milligan in the win, McAllister pitched a shutout over five innings, scattering three hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
   At the plate for the Buffs, Brian Miller went 3-for-3, a single, double and home run with four RBIs and scored two runs. Lister, Huff, Chandler, Hitch and Little each had two hits in the game.
   Milligan will conclude the three-game series this afternoon at Alice Lloyd, with a single game starting at 2. The next home game for the Buffaloes will be Monday evening as Carson-Newman visits Anglin Field for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
