TAD girls roll past 'Toppers

from staff reports

Science Hill couldn't find the strike zone on Thursday, and T.A. Dugger took advantage by drawing 30 walks in a 16-0, 13-0 Middle Eight Conference softball sweep in Blackbottom.
The Lady Jr. Cyclones had 15 walks in both games. Taylor Belessa drew three of those passes in the first contest, and she, Kyla Jones, Chelsey Fagan, Summer Smith, Madison Barnett (courtesy runner for Brittany Eggers) and McKenzie Eggers tallied two runs apiece.
TAD's Leah Henson and Smith did the only hitting in the game, as both players had a double.
Smith was the winning pitcher, tossing a three-inning no-hitter and striking out five batters.
Janey Robinson racked up three walks and a pair of runs in Game 2 for TAD, which got a hit apiece from Jones, Jasmine Treadway, Henson, Smith and McNeil. Jones and courtesy runner Madison McKinney (for Belessa) also tallied two runs apiece, and Belessa tossed a one-hitter for the pitching victory.
Hester had the lone hit for the Lady Jr. Hilltoppers.
Now 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the Middle Eight, TAD will host Indian Trail today at 4:30 p.m.
