Signups, tryouts Saturday for Jr. Babe Ruth

   The Carter County/Elizabethton Jr. Babe Ruth will have its final signups Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Elizabethton High School. Tryouts will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until 12:15 p.m.
   Any player who signed up and has never been on a Jr. Babe Ruth team needs to attend. All players will be placed on a team.
   The league will field seven teams this season.
   The league has been in existence since 1972. The first games were played in blackbottom what is now known as Joe O'Brien Field. All games are now played at Elizabethton High School.
   Four local organizations have been sponsors of the league for the entire 32 years. They include Citizens Bank, Tetricks Funeral Home, Elizabethton Moose Club and the Elizabethton Elks Club.
   The league is for ages 13 through 15. Other sponsors are David Trophies and Expert Express.
   Practice will begin next week with the regular season kicking off near the first part of May. Managers for this season will be Tony Thomas, John Papantoniou, Charles Peters, Charlie Bradford, Richard Rowe, Trey Townsend and Ronald Covington.
   League officers are Tim Chambers, president, Charles Peters, Vice-President, Sherry Rowe, secretary and John Papantoniou, treasuer.
