Jenkins no-hitter caps JCHS sweep

from staff reports

MOUNTAIN CITY -- Jesse Jenkins threw a five-inning masterpiece for Johnson County in one game, and the Longhorns withstood a barrage of University High hits in another.
Jenkins' no-hitter catapulted the 'Horns to a 4-0 victory in the second game of a doubleheader with the Jr. Bucs. Johnson County took the opener by a 9-7 score.
The 'Horns had just three hits of their own in Game 2, but they were more than enough for Jenkins, who struck out four batters.
Johnson County, which tallied three runs in the first and another run in the fourth, got a double from Nathan Paisley, and singles from Michael Davis and Thomas Moore.
The Jr. Bucs banged out an impressive 11 hits in Game 1, more than doubling Johnson County's output of five.
However, the 'Horns played a cleaner game in the field, committing two errors to UH's four.
After UH tallied two runs in the top of the first inning, Johnson County answered with four of their own and led the rest of the way.
Brian Bauguess had a pair of hits for Johnson County, with Paisley, Zak Reece and Jeff Brinker adding one apiece.
Ryan Collins paced the Jr. Bucs with a three-hit performance. Tyler Blevins, Garrison Burton and Brandon Bishop each collected two hits, and John Sams belted a home run.
Adam Woods picked up the win on the mound, and Robert Reburn worked a save.
