Simerly tosses one-hitter in TAD triumph

from staff reports

CHURCH HILL -- Thanks for a sterling one-hitter by pitcher Daniel Simerly, T.A. Dugger enjoyed a measure of success in its Middle Eight Conference doubleheader with Church Hill on Friday evening.
Simerly's gem came in the first game, leading the Junior Cyclones to a 3-0 victory.
Players collecting one hit apiece in the win for TAD were Wendell Loving, Bo Carter, C.J. Campbell, Lance Reed, Zach Montgomery and Simerly.
The second game saw TAD drop a tough 5-4 decision in which Loving, Reed, Wes Anderson, Carter, Casey Crapps and Campbell had a hit apiece.
"We hit the ball better than we had in the past few games," said Junior Cyclone coach Jason Carter. "We still need to put together a complete game, and we need to continue to improve. With tournament time right around the corner, hopefully we can be ready by then."
