Cyclones break even in tourney

   CORRYTON -- The Elizabethton High baseball team held its own in an invitational tournament at Gibbs High School, going 2-2 during the three-day event.
   The Cyclones started things off with a 6-5 loss to Clinton on Thursday.
   Elizabethton totaled seven hits, led by Travis Bowers at 2-for-3. Bowers also drove in three runs. Despite absorbing the loss on the mound, Zack Stipe struck out 10 batters.
   In the first of their two outings on Friday, Elizabethton defeated Rutledge in a game that had no errors.
   The Cyclones didn't have a lot of hitting, but RBIs from Alex Graves and Ricky Garrison helped Mitchell Blevins get a well-deserved win. Blevins pitched a complete game, striking out six.
   'Betsy then defeated Gibbs 7-5 behind a 3-for-4 game from Nathan Bishop.
   The Cyclones, who outhit Gibbs 11-10, got a 2-for-3 effort and two RBIs from Nat Treadway, plus a solo home run from Charles Peters.
   Cody Eggers nabbed the victory from the mound, with Bowers picking up a save.
   On Saturday, the Cyclones fell to Knox Halls by an 8-3 score. Garrison batted 2-for-4, and garnered three RBIs on a bases-clearing double.
   Treadway chipped in at 1-for-2.
