Lady Jr. Cyclones sweep Falcons
from staff reports
With tremendous offensive production, the T.A.
Dugger Lady Junior Cyclones blew away Church Hill on Thursday
night, by 7-0, and 14-1 tallies.
TAD remained unbeaten at 11-0 (10-0 conference)
as Mary Edgar improved her record to 7-0 on the season with
Brittney Smith improving to 4-0 with a win in the nightcap.
The bats were the story on this day as the Lady
Cyclones ripped a total of 21 hits against the Falcons, but
coach Harry Farthing said, "We have been doing that to teams
all year. We have had just great pitching all year, and we
have outscored our opponents by something like 119-12."
The pitching was stellar once again as Edgar
tossed a no-hitter that was saved by a diving stop in the
outfield by Janie Robinson, and Smith surrendered just one
hit in the nightcap.
"Our outfield has been making all the plays,"
said Farthing. "They have been tremendous. Kendall Blackston
has been just a rock behind the plate. We have made just one
error in the last nine games and though we had one in the
second game, it didn't hurt us."
Big days at the dish were turned in by Smith
who was two-for-three in the opener, with a triple thrown
in the mix and Edgar was also two-for-three with two RBI.
Blackston chipped in with one-for-two and an
RBI in the opener.
The nightcap saw everyone get involved as Tia
Nave and Robinson both scored two runs and Chelsea Fagan ripped
an RBI double.
