C.C. Motors wins battle of unbeatens

   The battle of the unbeatens took place on Tuesday at T.J. Burleson Field, where Carter County Motors would walk away with a hard-fought 3-1 National League win over Burgie Drug.
   Both clubs entered the contest with 3-0 records.
   An old-fashioned pitchers duel took place, with Carter County's Stacey Sheffield striking out 13 batters in a winning performance and Burgie's Drew Chambers striking out 14 batters.
   Burgie drew first blood in the game, getting its run in the bottom of the first.
   Motors tied the game with a run in the third, then took the road to victory by scoring a pair in the fifth.
   Carter County mustered just two hits in the contest -- Jake Hodge and Chris Pierce each batted 1-for-2 -- while Burgie could only come up with three hits as Ryan Thomas, Daniel Wilson and Lucas Birchfield went 1-for-2 apiece.

   Pitchers also dominated the other game of the night, as Jacob Davis and Chris Dunbar flourished on top of the hill.
   Davis was the winner while Dunbar totaled 12 strikeouts in a losing cause.
   Joe Guinn played a vital role for Cash Express, going 1-for-1 and making two fine defensive plays with runners on base. Teammate Jacob Davis chipped in a 1-for-2 showing.
   Daniel Roberts, at 1-for-1, topped the VFA attack. Bradley McVey and Chris Dunbar added 1-for-2 efforts.
