Jr. Rangers, 'Horns split pair

from staff reports

For the second time in two days, Unaka and Johnson County divided a middle school baseball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.
The Jr. Longhorns captured the first contest by a score of 4-2, then Unaka snapped back to take Game 2 in decisive fashion, 10-2.
In Game 1, Adam Colbaugh went the distance for the Jr. Rangers and pitched a good game, but had a disastrous fourth inning as the 'Horns plated four runs on only one hit. Two errors, a walk and a wild pitch did the damage.
Dustin Carden and Jeff Wilson paced the Rangers with two hits apiece.
The second game saw Nick Papantoniou pitch a complete-game victory, allowing only two runs. The Rangers used a 6-run third inning to put the game away.
Michael Carpenter and Wilson had two hits apiece for Unaka, with teammates Daniel Fleenor, Terry Campbell and Adam Colbaugh each collecting one hit.
The Rangers are 8-9 and travel to Vance Middle of Bristol today.
