Buffs take runner-up AAC finish

   KINGSPORT--The Milligan College men's golf team finished second on Tuesday in the Appalachian Athletic Conference golf tournament held at the Cattails at Meadowview Golf Club in Kingsport.
   Milligan finished with a 4-man, 54-hole total of 937, eight strokes behind Union College, which won the event with 929.
   Nine AAC teams competed in the event. Milligan held a one-stroke lead after the first 36 holes, but was unable to hold on.
   Milligan placed two men -- Blake Stewart and Michael Morrell -- on the all-conference first team.
   Stewart, a senior from Chesterfield, Mary., finished in the top five with a 54-hole total of 227. His best 18-hole score was a first-round 72.
   Morrell, a junior from Elizabethton, finished with a 54-hole total of 234. His best 18-hole total was a second-round 75.
   Other outstanding performers for Milligan included senior Todd Munsey (239), senior Jesse Boyd (240), and junior Nelson Caudill (241).
   Milligan's first-round total of 306 was a school record breaking the old record of 311 set in 1994 at Paris Landing State Park Golf Course in the NAIA District 24 tournament.
