Mountaincatz open season vs. Predators

from staff reports

The Tennessee Mountaincatz, defending champions of the American Women's Football League, start up a new season this Saturday night as they host the Lee County (Va.) Predators at Blountville Middle School.
   Kickoff is set for 7.
En route to a 5-1 record, the Mountaincatz split of pair of contests with the Predators last season, potentially making Saturday's contest one of the bigger matchups of the new year.
"Lee County has a big team, but we have a lot of skill players," said Mountaincatz player Julie Campbell, the league's top rusher a year ago. "If our offensive line can hold them we should come out ahead."
The Mountaincatz also boast the league's top passer, Suzanne Masoner, and top receiver, Stacey Reece (Mountain City), from last season.
Four players on this year's Tennessee team hail from Elizabethton, and all of the Mountaincatz live in and around the Tri-Cities area.
Tickets will be $6 advanced and $8 at the gate. To purchase advanced tickets, call Julie Campbell at 773-5313 or 282-9317.
