Lady Cyclones hunker down on Raiders, 5-0 from staff reportsBrandy Fairman pitched a 5-0 shutout for Elizabethton over Sullivan North Thursday in girls' softball action. Fairman (6-5) gave up six hits, but on base on balls in seven innings. Sarah Smith was 2-for-3, scoring one run, netting a RBI and stealing two bases. Ashley Trivette was 2-for-2, knocking in two RBIs and stealing one base. Stephanie Cline hit 1-for-3, also stealing a base and scoring one run. The team wrapped up the regular season at 12-13 overall and 8-6 in the Watauga Conference, before playing in the district next Friday. JV CYCLONES ROMP from staff reports Mitchell Blevins pitched a two-hitter and the Elizabethton bats were afire as the Cyclones romped to an 11-1 win over Watauga Conference rival Sullivan Central in junior varsity baseball. The EHS bats were ablaze with Cody Eggers going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI's, Ricky Garrison going a perfect 4-for-4 and Trevor Hyder 1-for-1 with 2 RBI's and walked twice. Blevins improved to 3-1 on the season, with the team ending the regular season at 5-5 in the conference and 7-8 overall. Now they head to the JV tourney starting next Thursday at Blountville. | |||||||
