Lady Warriors cut loose in victory over
Raiders
from staff reports
It didn't take long for the Lady Warriors of
Happy Valley to go from neutral to overdrive.
Erupting for 17 runs over the course of the fourth
and fifth innings, Happy Valley came from behind to defeat
Sullivan North 18-4 in a Watauga Conference softball tilt.
"We didn't start out too strong," said Lady Warrior
coach Karri Killen. "I don't know if I have to make them mad
or what to get them motivated, but we turned it around and
started hitting the ball. Thirteen hits, I can't complain."
The Lady Golden Raiders were leading 4-2 until
Happy Valley found its stroke.
A 3-for-3 performance from Jessie Blevins provided
the biggest offensive spark for the Lady Warriors. Mandy Byrd
was right behind at 3-for-5, while Alicia Dick, 2-for-3; and
Kortney Goulds, 2-for-4, put in solid efforts.
Dick (8-6) totaled eight strikeouts and zero
walks, getting the job done for Happy Valley on the mound.
The Lady Warriors (7-5, 12-14) will host Hampton
on Thursday, then visit Johnson County on Monday.
