Rangers top Warriors

   Unaka downed Happy Valley 4-2 in Friday prep baseball action from the Duncan Mechanical Invitational hosted by Unicoi County High School.
   David Perry led the Rangers going 2-for-3 with a RBI. Aaron Dugger, Daniel McInturff and Ben Cole each had a hit and RBI in the winning cause. Cole also picked up the win on the mound throwing five strikeouts. Rusty Chambers and Ryan Bowers each had hits for the Rangers.
   Britton Brumit had the loss for HV despite fanning seven batters. Brumit, Cody Whitlock and Lamar Rollins all had hits for the Warriors.
   Unaka continued their winning ways on Saturday, beating Daniel Boone 8-7 in the final day of the Invitational.
   Cloudland 5
   Johnson County 4
   Mark Byrd went 4-for-5 with one run and one run batted in leading Cloudland to a 5-4 non-conference win over Johnson County in prep baseball action.
   Dale Baker was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Caleb Denton was 2-for-3 with a RBI and James Gardner also picked up a RBI for Cloudland. Jeff Lewis countered with a home run for the Longhorns.
   The Highlanders improved to 9-7 overall with T.J. Lunsford getting the win. Jonathan Westphal took the loss for Johnson County now 12-7 on the season. Cloudland is now in the midst of a six-game win streak.
   Elizabethton (JV) 8
   Unicoi County 4
   The Elizabethton Jr. Cyclones delivered big with an 8-4 home win over the Unicoi County Blue Devils Thursday afternoon at Elizabethton High School.
   Elizabethton hammered in nine hits on the day, with no errors.
