Lady Rangers breeze past Cloudland in WVC game

from staff reports

In a Watauga Valley Conference softball game held at Cloudland Park on Tuesday afternoon, Unaka's Lady Rangers took the next step in gaining a conference crown with a big 19-0 win over Cloudland.
Unaka powered 11 hits, including a two-for-three day with a home run from Amanda Wilson. Tiffany Watts garnered the only hit from Cloudland.
Danielle Carr took the win from the mound, only allowing the one hit with five strikeouts against the Lady Highlanders. Watts took the loss for Cloudland.
"We did better than we've been doing," said Unaka coach Ronnie Hicks. "So I was proud that we came up and maybe had a little more energy than we had yesterday.
"We've been talking about it, trying to see if we could get fired up for the last two weeks of the season. So I'm pleased with the conference win. It sets us up for the big rematch with University High if we keep winning our conference games."
