Every coach searches for some sign of improvement to see if his team has progressed any from the begining of the season. The JV Cyclones got a thumbs up from their coach on Tuesday evening for game one, but game two was a different story.
Elizabethton and Happy Valley hooked up for a double dip of junior varsity baseball action at Elizabethton on Tuesday with each team registering a victory. The Cyclones took game one by the score of 4-3 and the Warriors raised a war party in taking game two by the score of 11-1.
Game one was a tight-fisted affair as Mitchell Blevins notched the win off the hill while Shannon Buchannon was the hard-luck loser.
Bulla, Buchannon and Holmes led HV with one hit each while Jake Berkley picked up two hits for EHS. Shaw and Eggers each added a hit each for the Cyclones.
In game two, the Warriors landed the knock-out punch early as they erupted for 10 runs in the first inning and cruised the rest of the way.
Joe Howell picked up the win on the mound for HV while Ricky Garrison took the loss. The Warriors picked up 13 hits for the game while the Cyclones managed only four.
Shaw had two hits for the Cyclones while Berkley and Bishop contributed one each. Barnett, Howell, and Holt each went a perfect three-for-three to pace the Warriors with Toney adding two hits. Buchannon and Harrison also contributed a hit each.
The game was called after three innings due to the 10-run mercy rule for the scheduled five inning game.
