Grindstaff Motors beats Burgie Drug

   Drew Clark and Brent Powell had two hits apiece Saturday while Logan Bowling did a good job on the mound, lifting Grindstaff Motors to a 14-3 victory over Burgie Drug on opening day for the National Little League.
   Grindstaff grabbed a 4-0 lead in the first, then scored eight more in the second to seal the deal.
   Matthew February led Burgie with two hits. Jordan Meredith followed at 1-for-2.

   BET's Joe Guinn and Michael Hutchins each went 1-for-1 to back to solid pitching of Bucky Harris.
   The score was knotted at 2 before BET tallied five runs in the bottom of the third.
   Cash Express' C.J. Campbell tagged the only home run of the day, highlighting a 2-for-2 performance. Daniel Wilson batted 1-for-1.

   Derek Mann turned in a nice effort on the mound while Heath Honeycutt had a 3-for-3 day at the plate, lifting Carter County Bank.
   CCB received a complementary effort from Justin Fugua, who batted 2-for-3.
   Tops for Motors were Michael Guinn, 1-for-1; Casey Sheffield, 1-for-2; and Brandon Birchfield, 1-for-2.

   Justin Peters stymied the Sigma bats with his good pitching and Garrett Dykes batted 3-for-3 as VFA played exceptional ball.
   Brandon Woods and Christopher Dunbar added 2-for-3 showings for the winners, while Jake Howell, Daniel Simerly and Korey Hardin led 6-Sigma at 1-for-2 apiece.
