It's baseball time in East Tennessee and the American and National Little Leagues opened their season on Saturday with the Elizabethton Star Little League Pre-Season City Tournament.
The action was taking place at both parks and things were off to a rousing start at the American League field.
   T & C Lawn Care.........9
   Cash Express.............2

In game one, T&C Lawn Care opened up the contest with four first inning runs and never looked back in defeating Cash Express from the National League by a score of 9-2.
Frankie Covarrabus and Bryant Collins each went 3 for 3 and scored three runs each to lead T & C Lawn Care. Jared Irick added a 2 for 2 day and Justin Pierce contributed with a 2 for 4 performance.
Daniel Wilson recorded the only hit given up by Collins and Irick on the day, with a single in the bottom of the fifth inning off of Irick. Collins collected the win while Wyatt Penrod picked up the loss.
   Carter County Bank....17
   Summers-Taylor......... 0

Carter County Bank exploded for a six run first inning and the boys from the Bank cruised the rest of the way in the fourth inning contest due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Derrick Mann and Kenny Yarberry went 3 for 3 and scored three runs each for the National League representative. Chase Depew, Justin Fugua, Tyler Blevins, Isahia Osbourn, and Heath Honeycutt all registered two hits apiece for the winners.
Dustin Arnett picked up the only base knock of the contest for Summers-Taylor. Daniel Jenkins was the hard luck loser on the mound while Depew was credited the win.
   Twins..................17
   A-1 Auto.............. 6

This contest was close until the Twins blew the doors off in the third to take the comfortable win. Craig Sheets had a monster day for the Twins with a double, triple, and two homers, one being an inside the park variety.
Ben McKinney also had a huge day for the Twins with four hits including two triples. Roy Edwards and Phillip White collected three hits each while Zack Montgomery and Ricky Jones added two each.
Dalton Luster, Norman Scott, and Seath Heaton added their names to the hit parade with one base knock on the day.
A-1 Auto was led by Logan Carden, Jordan Taylor, Alex Chambers, and Justin Nave as each player contributed two hits each for the American League club.
Aaron Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Jerry Agan, and Zack Naylor each banged out a hit apiece for A-1 Auto.
Edwards was the winning pitcher and Chambers was credited with the loss.
   Grindstaff.........................12
   Elizabethton Federal......... 2

The game was a lot closer than the score indicated as Grindstaff of the National League only held a 1-0 lead after three innings of play before erupting big in the fourth and fifth innings of play.
Logan Bowling, Jerry Berkley, and Brent Powell collected two base hits each for the winners. C.J. Bowling and Drew Clark contributed with one hit apiece.
Dustin Milhorn and Holden Vines led Elizabethton Federal with two base knocks each. Nathaniel Morefield and Chris Dishman added a hit also.
Holden Vines had a nice effort on the mound for the American League team but was given the loss leaving the game trailing 1-0 in the third. Logan Bowling notched the win off the hill for Grindstaff.
