ETSU's McVay SoCon softball Player of Week JOHNSON CITY -- East Tennessee State's Tiffany McVay was selected as the Southern Conference's softball Player of the Week for March 29.ETSU's McVay batted .438 on the week with two home runs.In a 1-0 victory against Appalachian State on Sunday, McVay's solo blast provided the game's only run. The senior pitcher and utility player from Soddy-Daisy, TN (Soddy-Daisy HS) also pitched a complete game shutout in that game, earning the victory on the mound. For the week, McVay picked up seven hits, two home runs, seven RBIs, including a slugging percentage of 1.000 and a field percentage of .952. Also receiving consideration for Player of the Week were Appalachian State's Candice Shelton who batted .444; Charleston's Amanda Cone who hit .579 with two home runs and six RBI; Teri Herbert of Chattanooga who belted two home runs; Natalie Layden of Elon who batted .385 on the week; Furman's LaKerah Barr who went seven-for-11 in a three-game series at UNC Greensboro; and Jennifer Hubbard of UNC Greensboro who hit .471 with four extra-base hits. | |||||||
