UHS cheerleaders claim state tournament award

By Tim Chambers

The gold ball wasn't the only award brought back to Stoney Creek during the state tournament. The Unaka High School cheerleaders captured the sportsmanship award, given to the most outstanding squad in the three-day event.
The cheerleaders did a marvelous job of getting the crowd into the games, and their efforts did not go unnoticed. On championship day, they arrived early at the Murphy Center to practice for the big game.
Their sponsors were Julie Yankee, a teacher at Unaka High School, and Pam Ensor, who teaches at Range Elementary. Congratulations to each girl on a job well done.
The entire Stoney Creek community is proud of you.
