Hall leads ETSU to win over Southern

   STATESBORO, GA -- Sophomore righty Jeremy Hall allowed just seven hits and one unearned run in a complete game win as East Tennessee State defeated Georgia Southern.
   After allowing two hits and the only Georgia Southern run in the first inning, Hall retired the next 13 batters that he faced. He also allowed two hits in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the ninth.
   Hall struck out six batters while walking none in improving to 4-2 on the season. Just three Eagle base runners advanced past first base in the final eight innings.
   With the win, Hall has been victorious in each of his last four starts.
   Blake Church, Josiah Glafenhein and Caleb Moore all collected two hits each for East Tennessee State. Greg Roberts tagged his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh.
   Seven different Eagles collected base hits. Teaford allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of work. The freshman lefthander struck out six and walked three while falling to 4-2 on the season.
   Georgia Southern (7-11, 2-2) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as James Payne reached on a base hit up the middle.
   Brandon Long followed with a single to right, where the ball was misplayed by Bucs' rightfielder Shane Byrne allowing both runners to move up a base. Greg Dowling's sacrifice fly to right allowed Payne to score for a 1-0 Eagle lead.
   East Tennessee State (10-8, 2-2) claimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second as its first three batters reached on base hits.
   Sophomore second baseman Josiah Glafenhein opened the frame with a single to right and scored on junior catcher Caleb Moore's double to centerfield. Sophomore designated hitter Steven Calicutt's bunt single scored Moore for the second Buc run of the inning.
   The Bucs upped their lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning. With one out, sophomore left fielder Matt Traylor reached on a infield single and moved to second on a wild pitch.
   Byrne's ground out moved Traylor to third, allowing him to score on the second wild pitch of the inning by Eagle starter Everett Teaford.
   Sophomore third baseman Greg Roberts gave East Tennessee State a three-run lead in the top of the seventh as he sent a 1-0 pitch from Eagle reliever Jared Comstock over the left field fence for his second home run of the season.
